Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name for Winona Laura Hoowitz. She was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter on her home town. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's dad was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. She has two younger half-siblings, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder was born in the United States and moved together with her family to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. There they didn't have electricity. Television books were the only way for Ryder to pass the time. Eventually, she was a voracious reader. In 1983, when she was twelve, Ryder joined the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. The actress landed her first part on the big screen in 1986, after she turned 15 years young. Ryder was bullied at her high school. She hoped that she would be able to alter the way she dealt with bullying. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. She continued to pursue the goals she had set. The year 1988 saw her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder had a successful role in several films. She was nominated for two Academy Awards one for her performance on The Age of Innocence (1993).
