April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball athletes to win medals more than once at an Olympics. She is set to compete in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman who is a first time Olympian. Ross wants to achieve more than her first Olympic medal. Perhaps this is her only opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. But she's convinced that winning the gold medal is in reach. Ross on NBC Boston, said that If the team is performing very well, or even at all, it could be able to win gold. Also, I am going be relying on a little bit of good luck. Ross was a Californian born in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. She lived here with her father, mother and younger sister. In addition to competing in various sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. When she was a student in the prep school she played the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball as well as running track. She clearly was the top in the game of indoor volleyball. In her college volleyball season, according to her college profile, she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. Gatorade Circle of Champions named her as the National Player in 1999. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her in volleyball. Ross and Klineman are performing their roles since the year 2017. However, Ross played a significant role on the beach volleyball circuit prior to the pair. In reality, she was a winner of numerous major events with two different partners, among them a volleyball icon. In the period 2007 to 2013 she teamed together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Kessy's teammate Ross, who took home the title of world champion alongside Kessy in 2009, was also significant on the world stage. In 2012, the pair won silver at London's Olympics. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the group that could take home the gold. Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she retired. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross competed for USC Trojans in her college the years prior to her professional career. Ross's playing time with the Trojans was remarkable. Her freshman year in 2000 saw her earn the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman's of award and become an All-American. She also helped the Trojans get to their first Final Four. She endured a great personal defeat in her sophomore year yet was successful in achieving the All-American award. Through her two final years in the Trojans program, she guided the team to win a national championship every time. She was a great volleyball player and won the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the most outstanding female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross took a course in International Relations at USC. Margie Ross didn't get to witness Ross become the highest beach volleyball levels. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Her mother is still close to her heart. Margie continues to be an inspiration both on and off of the shore.
